Some Days, I Think It Would Be Better If You Didn’t Live on My Planet
Don’t get me wrong. It’s not that I think you don’t have a right to exist, or that you should be punished for your world views. More that you’ve landed on my list of people that I think the planet would be better off without traversing it.
It comes off as harsh, when I say it out loud.
It sounds unforgiving.
It feels angry and mean.
Let me explain, just this once, before you sit in judgment. Stay quiet in this moment, so we can both reflect how we got here.
As a teenager, I liked you very much. As an adult, I grew to love you deeply as a friend. I shared your triumphs and failures. I wished only good things for you.
That never ended. I continue to love you. I still wish good things for you, but now I have perspective.
I suffered things. You suffered things. But there is a difference between the two of us. I took what I was given in life and looked at all those bad things as my opportunity to grow and learn and do better. You took every single problem and blew it up into a nuclear explosion where only you could be right. Where in the world, if people aren’t with you, then they’re all against you and out to get you.
