Really, the only problem with not sustaining the population that we have is that the elderly will have to take care of themselves. Yes, I said it — maintaining population is a lot about continuity of care in the future. And in the US, our social security system NEEDS fresh blood to sustain it or those who rely on SS won’t have anything to fall back on when it fails.
