In all the tiny house journeys I have ever seen or read about, the owners sometimes gloss over the hardships of building and focus on the triumphs. I understand this — the joy of getting past the hiccups sometimes overshadows the real issues that come up when learning something new and attempting to do things the right way at the same time.

Learning on the job is daunting for everyone. Learning to do something that could potentially kill you if you do it wrong? Nerve-wracking and anxiety-inducing. Getting over the inertia of fear is difficult. When you know you have a future living in your home, it is imperative to push past it. Getting started is the hard part.

Due to the difficulty of finding an electrician willing to work on my tiny house, I was fortunate to have a friend fly out to help me tackle my task. He helped wire some things and had a basic knowledge of how electricity works. To supplement our deficiencies, I paid a company called NOAH. They provide expertise and the seal that I will receive after all the inspections pass.

Laborious is a mild description of putting in new electrical. The first step is to plan out every appliance, cord, light, and anything else that might need electricity. RVs and tiny houses can’t have more than 50 amps to power everything. The…
