Gen X, 44. What you wrote made me realize that I have few Gen X friends at all, and they’re older than me. I think that the invisibility I feel is that I share pop culture references with every generation, but none of them seem to share mine. Or in the case of bringing back 80s stuff, people actually think it’s new instead of recycled, and are irritated when I can tell them the history or backstory. Which, now that I consider it, we were raised to respect and listen to our “elders." I’m pretty sure that’s no longer a thing. And I’m not sad to see it go, but it does mean that what wisdom we do share has to be shoved through a different prism of understanding and acceptance.
